LONDON (28 November 2007) Ben Horn and Roger Hopkins at international law firm Faegre & Benson LLP have together compiled the Arbitration Law Handbook, due to be published by Informa Law in December 2007. The handbook is the first book to provide a collection of arbitration laws (including international, commercial and maritime) from different countries in one single publication - a time-saving, handy reference for practitioners.
The Arbitration Law Handbook conveniently collates the laws in force in more than 20 countries, with the main procedural rules used in each of those countries. Each section has a short overview identifying relevant treaty obligations, the main arbitral bodies and principal laws in force.
There is also an international section in which the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) Model Law and Arbitration Rules are set out and in which the major international conventions relating to arbitration, such as the New York Convention and table of signatories, are reproduced. This section also includes the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) arbitration rules, as well as those of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
The handbook is organised by country and will be an indispensable and convenient reference for arbitration lawyers, UK and international law libraries, students (particularly post-graduates), arbitrators and arbitrator institutes or nominating bodies.
